Assessment 3 (Impact of IT on a Community)

Impact of IT on a Community

It has greatly increases the capabilities of communities as people can join the community online and talk to all of the people from all over the world so you can meet a large amount of people who like something you do as well. Also when it comes to a online community there is almost no limit to the amount of people that can join and personally I am part of a very large community which I often contribute to such as Dota 2 the only thing about a public anyone can join so someone might join with the intention to be a bad person so it can be slightly dangerous for younger people but none the less I think IT has had a great impact on Communities.

  1. The type of online community for gaming etc that you talk about is obviously a new thing and great for linking up with people with the same interests. And as you say there are big risks in not knowing who you are speaking to.

  2. Online gaming communities have taken off just as much as social media in my opinion, but the dangers are still the same especially from them teenage keyboard warriors out there. I think the anonymity of it gives them the impression they can't be touched so they say whatever they want. Wee fannies!

    1. Yes this is very true, it's dangerous especially when you do't know the person but it's just best to block people you don't trust as the community for several games are dangerous

  3. the dota 2 community is nothing but bad people as the game itself brings the worst out in people. not to mention the younger people who start playing and seeing everyone else being di$#s, being easily influenced, they then think it is ok to act in the same manner.
